A Note to Prince George's County Residents
Written by The Port Towns CDC

ImageAs homeowners may know, Prince George's County has been hit the hardest in the State of Maryland by foreclosures, late mortgage notices, and exotic mortgages.

This article is not just for homeowners, but for their neighbors, residents, and everyone capable of passing on the message. We all know somebody in need of this message.

Help is available for those affected by the Housing Crisis. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has awarded funds to local non-profit counseling agencies that offer one-on-one counseling, and there are new programs in existence to help those affected by this.

Please don't let the topic's awkwardness or sensitivity stop you from discussing this with others. Help is available for those in need of assistance.Find out what steps you can take at w ww.mdhope.org  and www.mdhousing.org .

UMD and Bladensburg Collaborate to Preserve Historic 1746 Mansion
Written by The Town of Bladensburg
ImageCollege Park, Md. - University of Maryland historic preservation experts and students will work at one of the oldest houses in Prince George's County - "Bostwick," a Bladensburg mansion built in 1746 by a prominent merchant.

Bostwick is one of only four remaining pre-Revolutionary War buildings in Bladensburg. The building is on the National Registry of Historic Places and is owned by the Town. It also served as the residence for the first U.S. Secretary of the Navy.

Under this new agreement, Bladensburg will give the University's Historic Preservation Program full access to the mansion, its outbuildings and the seven-acre property. The program is part of the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

University faculty and students will conduct a preservation feasibility study, assessing water issues, foundation movement, plaster damage, landscaping and other issues.
